Scholarship Program Requirements
In a move aimed at alleviating the financial burden on future healthcare professionals, the MVMS Foundation shifted its focus from granting loans to awarding scholarships. This decision was made in response to the increasing debt medical students face while pursuing their medical degrees.
Each year, the society's office will proactively reach out to Deans from various medical schools in Ohio and surrounding states, encouraging them to identify and inform needy, worthy students about this opportunity. Eligible students will be invited to apply for scholarships that align with the Foundation's established criteria.
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must fulfill a set of specific requirements designed to ensure that we support individuals who are not only academically proficient but also demonstrate leadership potential and a commitment to their communities.

Applicants must be residents of the Mahoning Valley, which includes Trumbull, Mahoning, and Columbiana Counties.

Applicants must maintain a good academic standing throughout their studies.

Applicants should have completed their first year of either an osteopathic or allopathic medical school, specifically within Ohio or a neighboring state, such as Western Pennsylvania or West Virginia.

Applicants must demonstrate exemplary leadership, which is a crucial aspect of the application, as we seek to reward those who are not just scholars but also active contributors to their communities.

Applicants must ensure that their scholarship application is thoroughly completed and submit two letters of recommendation: one from their school's Dean and another from a professional within the academic and/or medical field.
